That the Parliament welcomes the news that work on the transformation of the former Co-op site at Primrose Street, Alloa, into 60 high-quality dementia-friendly flats has been rewarded for its re-energising impact on Alloa town centre’s rejuvenation; congratulates Clackmannanshire Council and Kingdom Housing Association on being presented with the Streets and Spaces prize in the Scotland Loves Local, Town Centre Living Award category; understands that the creation of this type of development in the town centre was a new step for the Council, and marked a new chapter in the evolution of Alloa town centre once again making it a living place, particularly for older people, rendering services such as shops, a post office, public transport and the library as far more easily accessible; believes that the development will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the surrounding area whilst providing a housing solution to maximise the time that the local older community can remain within their own homes, supported by further planned improvements around the town centre; further believes that the residential development has an important part to play in supporting the regeneration of Alloa town centre and diversifying it as a living space; understands that the key component of the support network around the new development is the opening of the Alloa Hub and the Alzheimer Scotland Brain Health & Dementia Resource Centre, which are new spaces for the community and are situated very close to the development; acknowledges that the Living Alloa project, which is a collaboration between Clackmannanshire Council, Alloa First BID and Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface, has also been shortlisted in this year's Scotland’s Urban Regeneration Forum (SURF) Awards; believes that this initiative, which includes Alloa Hub and the dementia-friendly Kingdom Housing Association development on Primrose Street along with streetscape improvements, has been selected by the judges as one of 15 finalists in the awards, which will be announced on 8 December 2022 at the Voco Grand Central, Glasgow, and commends everyone involved in all these forward-thinking projects.
