That the Parliament welcomes the news that Angharad Evans and Paige van der Westhuizen, who will be representing Great Britain and Zimbabwe respectively, will also represent the University of Stirling at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Budapest; understands that the global event takes place in a 25-metre pool, compared with the regular 50-metre lengths, with both Angharad and Paige set to be busy over the course of the meet; believes that Angharad, who made her Olympic debut in Paris earlier in 2024, will compete for Great Britain in three races, the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, while Paige will represent Zimbabwe in the 100m and 200m freestyle events; notes that the university’s coaching staff will also travel to the Hungarian capital, with Brad Hay selected for Great Britain alongside Stirling’s former head performance swim coach, Steve Tigg, who is now head swim coach of Aquatics GB, while Josh Williamson will coach with Zimbabwe; further notes that Ben Higson, who is replacing Tigg as head performance swim coach, is also in Budapest with the Australian team, and wishes all of the University of Stirling team the very best of luck in this prestigious competition.
