Caithness Krakens Win the Caledonia North Region League 2 Title

That the Parliament congratulates the Caithness Krakens rugby team on its outstanding achievement in securing the Caledonia North Region League 2 title with a resounding 41-10 victory over Orkney Dragons on 20 January 2025, marking a perfect season with a 100% record; notes that this victory not only adds to the club's growing trophy haul, but also serves as a testament to the players' resilience and determination, following the disappointment of narrowly missing promotion in 2024; acknowledges the exceptional efforts of Orkney Dragons; believes that, despite a challenging season and a depleted squad, the Dragons demonstrated remarkable tenacity and spirit, deserving of recognition for the players' courageous performance, especially during the periods of sustained pressure they applied to the Krakens’ defence; pays tribute to the skills and leadership of players such as Tamzin Rosie, whose three-try performance was instrumental in securing the win, and to Caitlin Harvey, Emmie Smith and Lauren Gunn for their key contributions in the match; recognises the importance of this victory in building momentum as the Krakens now prepare for the upcoming National Shield competition, where the club will compete against Division 1 teams Peterhead, Oban Lorne and Howe of Fife, starting with an away match against Peterhead on 8 February; expresses admiration for the leadership of head coach, Mike Flavell, and the continued development of the Krakens, whose players have shown significant improvement in their defensive strategies, overcoming challenges posed by the 13-a-side format and long periods without competitive play; wishes the Krakens continued success in the upcoming National Shield matches, and looks forward to the club’s continued progress and contribution to rugby in the Highlands and Islands.
